This quote: how many points is it off the real rate Exchange-rate spread calculator: spread percent plus the real difference per 10,000 units

The rates posted at exchange counters all look about the same, but the notch each one adds above the mid-market varies. This tool quantifies "how far the quote sits from the mid-market" as a percent, then converts it into the money you actually overpay or lose when you change 10,000 units. If you have both a buy and a sell price, enter both to see the full spread; if you only have one dealt price, switch to single-price mode to see how far that one deal drifted from the mid-market.

How to read this With both a bid and ask, spread % = (ask − bid) ÷ mid × 100, showing how wide the total markup is on a full round trip in and out. With one dealt price, it shows how far that single deal drifted from the mid-market, in percent. The "difference per 10,000 units" turns the percent into a concrete amount: a 1% spread on 10,000 is 100. That tells you whether walking to two more counters and comparing is worth it. To learn where to find the mid-market and when exchanging is a better deal, read when to exchange.
